The Central Edit page

From Singapore Hotels & Singapore Lifestyle

The Central - do not confuse this with Central Mall on Magazine Road because this is nothing like it. While the former is more office-friendly, this shopping mall features an eclectic mix of work and casual fashion not found in other malls. About 70 per cent of the retail stores are open, and full capacity is expected in early 2008. There are also many Japanese food outlets like Nippon-ya for sweets and desserts, Marutama for ramen, and Tom Ton. No need to bitch about convenience: the mall sits just above Clarke Quay MRT Station.

The Central, developed by Far East Organisation and managed by PARCO, has 5 exciting levels totaling 200,622 sq ft of retail space. It is sited on 77,000 sq. metres of prime land overlooking the Singapore River, and is the first landmark development in Singapore to integrate habitation, lifestyle, business and transportation connectivity. The development consists of SOHO and office units, a retail podium with food and beverage outlets offering alfresco dining by the river, recreational facilities and full public amenities. Be part of this integrated live-work-play community.

With over 280 shops of F&B and fashion related merchandise and services, The Central offers a unique layout for Riverfront Shopping experience, Riverside Dining by the Singapore River and a new LevelOne@Central concept catering to the chic, stylish and confident shoppers.

Located in the city center, at a landmark site above the Clarke Quay MRT Station along the historic Singapore River, it seamlessly integrates office and habitation, including the city's first purpose-built Small Office Home Office (SOHO) units. In addition to the SOHO units and retail podium, The Central will have a 25-storey office tower with New Age Offices as well as regular office units with large floor plates, a sky garden and recreational facilities, full public amenities and a community hub.

The Central, directly opposite the happening Clarke Quay district, is strategically located within the Central Business District (CBD). The shopping mall, above Clarke Quay MRT Station and next to the Singapore River, offers different modes of transportation. It is within walking distance to the banking institutions, historic Chinatown, the Colonial District, and the new city campuses of Singapore Management University (SMU) and LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts. The art district, made up of museums, galleries and the Esplanade, and the entertainment belt are also just around the corner.

The Central is set to invigorate the landmark Singapore River by infusing a new vibrancy into the area treasured for its rich historical background and architectural and business heritage.
