Tekka Mall

The wet market at Tekka Centre once occupied a sprawling site just opposite on Serangoon Road known as Kandang Kerbau ("cattle pen" in Malay) Market, after the cattle station that marked the site. Modernisation today encroaches on this largely low-rise ethnic quarter with new (and often ugly) structures like the six-storey shopping complex, Tekka Mall. Opened in 2003, it houses a basement supermarket, food court, fast food outlets and various speciality stores.
