Tekka Market and Food Centre

Tekka Market and Food Centre, previously known as Kandang Kerbau Market (KK Market), lies at the junction of Serangoon Road and Bukit Timah Road. (Tekka means "bamboo foot" in the Teochew dialect and the name was adopted as a profusion of bamboo once grew here in the past.) This is the grimy, bustling heart of Little India, where you'll find dozens of Indian, Chinese and Muslim stalls, wrapped in the noise and smells from the wet market.
An excellent venue for a local breakfast, hawker stalls selling Malay Cuisine, Chinese Cuisine and Indian Cuisine draw sizeable crowds in the morning. Later in the day, the stalls upstairs offer the browser a chance to pick up bargains and exotic knick-knacks.
The "wet market" has an amazing array of fresh produce, offering herbs such as fresh dill and sweet basil and vegetables seldom found elsewhere.
