The Prince of Wales is an Australian-style pub and hostel, featuring spit-and-sawdust live music pub downstairs with excellent Australian beers and clean dorms upstairs painted in bright oranges and blues. The noise won't suit everyone, but it's a fun place to stay and is deservedly popular.
This hostel is modeled on the many Australian corner pubs/hotels that provide punters with live music, a variety of cold draught beer, inexpensive accommodation and a casual atmosphere.
A subtle Australian feel is brought to the pub through its sunburned colours, corrugated iron, weather board and red gum timber.
Australian draught beer from the Grand Ridge Brewery in Gippsland Victoria (Australia) is shipped in to compliment the other international draught beers on offer. Fosters, Beamish Irish stout, Newcastle Brown Ale & John Smith's Extra Smooth are all available on tap.
The music is alternative original rock, with a different act each night. Sunday through Thursday is Live & Unplugged while Friday & Saturday nights are Live & Loud in the main bar.
Chill-out in the beer garden with picnic tables, BBQ, pool table and sports television. Through the day we serve locally baked meat pies (to Australian specifications) and pour fine Italian coffee (Melbourne style).
Guests can then enjoy our dorm style accommodation!
The Prince of Wales is open 9am to 12 midnight. A night buzzer is available for late/early check-in.
