Merlion is the kitschy half-lion and half-fish creature that has become the tourist symbol of Singapore. Whilst strolling in the Fountain Gardens, you can take the lift up to the top of the 37 metre (120 ft) high Merlion for views of the Singapore harbour and surrounding Southern Islands, and on a clear day, even the Riau Islands of Indonesia.
