On the same side as Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, two blocks up Serangoon Road, on Race Course Lane, is a building dedicated in 1953 to appropriately, the father of modern India, Mahatma Gandhi. The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hall serves as the Family Service Centre of the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA), a self-help group looking after the interests of the Indian community.
