Leong San See Temple Edit page

From Singapore Hotels & Singapore Lifestyle

Across the road from the Sakaya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple is Leong San See Temple, a less gaudy Taoist place of worship.

The temple dates back from 1917, and its name translates as Dragon Mountain Temple (1815). It is dedicated to Kuan Yin, the ever popular Goddess of Mercy to whom childless couples pray to for blessings, is richly carved and ornately decorated with timber beams carved with chimera, dragons, flowers and human figures. Note especially the dragon sculptures on top of its roofs. At the back is a specious courtyard and numerous ancestral tablets, some dating to the 1880s.
