From Singapore Hotels & Singapore Lifestyle
|
Jurong Birdpark, (Chinese: 裕廊飞禽公园; Malay: Taman Burung Jurong), with over 9,000 birds belonging to more than 600 species, is one of the world's best in conservation and display of birds in natural settings. This beautifully landscaped 20-hectare (49-acre) park is fun to visit even if you're only mildly interested in our feathered friends. Jurong Birdpark's successes include the world's largest breeding colonies of Humboldt Penguins. Acknowledged as the leading bird park in the region and deeply committed to avian conservation, the award-winning Jurong Birdpark attracts well over a million visitors each year. Internationally, the park was the first in the world to breed the 12-wired Bird of Paradise.

Park Attractions
A monorail (adult/child S$4/2) will transport you around all the fascinating highlights at the Jurong Birdpark. Highlights of the park include:
Pelican Cove
Stroll along the boardwalk and take your time watching these fascinating massive specimens. See them at the world's first underwater viewing gallery for pelicans, diving for fish at feeding time.
Penguin Parade
Penguin Parade simulates a slice of Antarctica, and recreates an Antarctic habitat for the more than 200 penguins from 5 species here. The five species on exhibit are the Humboldt Penguin, the Rockhopper, the Macaroni Penguin, the Fairy and the King Penguin. Watch the birds "fly" underwater.
Waterfall Aviary
The world's largest walk-in aviary with more than 1,500 free-flying birds from over 60 species. Pose with the tallest man-made waterfall (30 metres high) in the world.
Lory Loft
At 3,000 square metres and 9 storeys high, Lory Loft is the world's largest walk-in Lory flight aviary, with over 1,000 free-flying Lories. Offer them a special nectar mixture and the birds will flock to you.
Hop on board the air-conditioned Panorail to have a bird's eye view as it brings you to the Lory Loft and Waterfall Aviary.
Southeast Asian Birds Aviary
See the largest collection of Southeast Asian birds, numbering 260 species. Experience a simulated thunderstorm daily at noon in the large walk-in aviary.
