Halal
From Singapore Hotels & Singapore Lifestyle

Because the Malays in Singapore are predominantly Muslim, there is no pork in their Food, and any Chinese influence precludes the use of pork derivatives. In the last few years, there have been more outlets selling Halal Chinese Cuisine where pork has been substituted with other acceptable meats, usually chicken. Some people will tell you that these Halal-equivalents do not taste the same as the original version with pork. This is a matter of taste and preference. If you have no dietary or religious restrictions, try them yourself and draw your own conclusions.
A recent addition to the Singapore Food scene is the chain of eating places named Banquet where all the stalls serve only Halal Food, regardless of ethnic origin. Another Food Court chain cashing in on Halal Food trend is Fork and Spoon. If you are a strict Muslim or are dining with one, look out for the Halal certification in Food Centres which verifies that all the Food and Beverage have been prepared according to the strict precepts of Islam. This certificate is issued by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS).
