Dhoby Ghaut Edit page

From Singapore Hotels & Singapore Lifestyle

Dhoby Ghaut was once an area of grassy fields covered with linen to dry in the sun by the many Indian-owned dhoby (laundries) that operated in the area by the banks of the former Bras Basah canal.

It is along the famous Orchard Road stretch of Shopping Malls which leads through Somerset and then to Dhoby Ghaut. A walk from Orchard MRT Station to Dhoby Ghaut MRT takes probably a mere 20 minutes, being just two train stations away.
