Cafe Les Amis, part of the Les Amis Group, opened on 10 December 1998 in conjunction with the official opening ceremony of the new National Parks Headquarters and the Singapore Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre. Located in the Visitors Centre, the cafe is just a stone's throw away from its fine dining sister restaurant, Au Jardin.
Cafe Les Amis boasts an open-air concept, offering diners a splendid view of the Gardens landscape. The dining section faces the Palm Valley, a small area with a beautiful waterfall, small fountains and a large variety of palm trees. Thus, guests are offered a relaxing atmosphere enhanced by the sound of running water in the background. The luckier diners may even be offered an unexpected visit by the local wildlife, catching glimpses of cheeky squirrels or wild Indian parakeets in a spectrum of vivid colours.
Guests can choose from the selection of local and continental favourites on the menu, from Mee Goreng and Yong Chow Fried Rice to Fish & Chips, Pasta specialities, Salads and gourmet Sandwiches. Early birds can also enjoy breakfast fare from the breakfast menu.
Being in the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Cafe Les Amis also offers a unique feature - all pets are welcome and the cafe provides drinking bowls for all its furry friends after their long hot walks. On hot afternoons, the cafe provides a reprieve from the tropical weather, with cool temptations such as an ice cream or ice cold beer available. In the evening, the cafe becomes a serene sanctuary where guests can enjoy a peaceful, leisurely meal as night befalls the Garden.
