Bugis Village Edit page

From Singapore Hotels & Singapore Lifestyle

Bugis Village - two-storey conservation shophouses located in the famous Bugis area. Now carefully restored and polished to remove most signs of its ignoble past as a den of sin, just like Bugis Street nearby. The retail shops on the first level are well thronged by shoppers as millions per year of vehicular and predestrian traffic passes by this natural thoroughfare. It is right in the midst of the nearby Bugis MRT Station, public bus stop, tourist Bugis Street year long bazaar " Pasar malam" and popular tourist attractions like the Kuan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple. The sights and sounds created by the nearby tourist attractions provide Bugis Village the advantage of a retailing atmosphere that is not comparable; it has a natural buzzing spirit throughout the day. The main attraction here is the night market, where you can pick up cheap clothes, CDs and watches.

Bugis Village comprises three-storey of 34 pre-Second World War shophouses that were restored in 1991. Bugis Village is strategically located across Bugis MRT and the teeming Bugis Junction Shopping Centre, at the bustling Bugis Street and Queen Street area. As at 31 December 2006, the development has an NLA of 10,964 sqm comprising shop units, fast food outlets, restaurants and offices.

Adding to the buzz soon will be the first Urban Entertainment Central (UEC), situated on a neighbouring site which is recently launched by URA and planned as an Arts, Culture, Learning and Entertainment hub in the city centre. The proposed UEC could potentially house entertainment such as cinemas, thematic restaurants, live show dinner theatres, indoor theme parks and entertainment centres, discotheques, fine art galleries workshops, as well as TV film and video studios and production facilities.

Bugis Village is owned by CapitaCommercial Trust (CCT), Singapore’s first commercial real estate investment trust; and managed by CapitaLand.
