Blue Ginger Restaurant
From Singapore Hotels & Singapore Lifestyle
|
Blue Ginger Restaurant is a stylish modern restaurant in a converted shophouse offering time-honoured Peranakan Cuisine.
"The inspiration behind our starting "blue ginger" cannot be fully explained without first sharing with you aspects of peranakan culture. As a peranakan, the signature of a well-bred "Nonya", or Straits Chinese lady, was how well one could cook. It was often the matriarch of the family who would bring the entire family together, over a mouthwatering spread of spicy and aromatic dishes."
Blue Ginger is one of the first few Peranakan Restaurants in Singapore, and offers very good food but small portions; try the fresh mackerel simmered in spicy tamarind, the Beef Rendang and the deep-fried eggplant. Other dishes include Buah Keluak, Babi Pongteh, Otah and Udang Kuah Pedas Nanas.
